Coach Banfield Awarded CHSCA Dick Katte Sportsmanship Award

On March 25, 2017, Coach Terry Banfield received the Dick Katte Sportsmanship Award at the Colorado High School Coaches Association (CHSCA) Hall of Fame Induction Dinner.

This award is given to a coach who exemplifies the conduct, attitude, and dignity as a coach and role model to athletics and athletes in Colorado.

In addition to having headed up the Littleton High School boys' soccer program for six years and remaining as an assistant coach in that program, Coach Banfield has been the head girls' soccer coach at LHS for 21 years. During that time, his teams have received several league sportsmanship awards, as well as sportsmanship honors for the girls' varsity soccer team from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) for the past two seasons.

Coach Banfield's varsity has also excelled in academics and on the field. The girls' varsity has received a national high school team academic award from the NSCAA for the past 18 years, which is currently the longest streak in the country. Additionally, the girls' varsity team has made two appearances in the Final Four over the the years and advanced to the second round of the 4A state playoffs in both 2015 and 2016.

According to Coach Banfield's CHSCA biography, "A strong work ethic, playing hard but fair, showing respect for the game, teammates, and opponents, are all hallmarks of his teams."

Congratulations Coach Banfield!
